Project 1: Legs11 - Ecoyum Ready to Feed milk Package.

Current issues and market research:
Mothers all want to raise her child being healthy with complete nutrients in each meal. It is even harder, especially from newborns. Mothers feel hard mixing the proper ratio of formula powder to water to make sure the baby is getting just a right amount of nutrients needed. Runny or too thick formula may cause constipation and spit up problems for the child.
Ready to feed milk is the closest formula to breast milk which allows Mothers the options of combination feeding. It is easy to digest and no mixing with water needed. The package brings more conveniences while traveling on plane or no clean water area.

Packaging Problems:
Current Ready to feed milk is packed in glass (mostly used in hospital), carton and plastic bottle. They are breakable, heavy for transport and cause many environmental impacts. Moreover, mother has to transfer milk from the package into another sterilized bottle. It causes mess and inconvenience for using.  Uncared design of the bottle brings many misunderstand about the quality of formula. Ready to feed was perceived as instant unhealthy milk while it is truly better than powder milk.

Design:
The design concept is a new bottle is made from an old recycled bottle. Value Pack with premium nipple attached is to encourage people to collect used bottles and return them to manufacture.
The bottle is made of #1 P.E.T plastic. It is recyclable and lightweight for effective liquid transport. Wide neck bottle allows users to insert nipple directly and no need to transfer into another bottle. Label is designed to peel off and separated from the bottle, hence saving more time and energy during recycling process. Patterns support holding and crushing bottle after use, so saving more space while collecting.
The design is clean and simple. Pattern mimics sinus lactiferi in Mother’s breast. It recalls mothers about the quality of the package which is a nutritionally complete breast milk substitute.

  1. I like how you have taken a twist on baby formula addressing dosage per bottle. When looking at it on the shelves it does stand out although i would be concerned about the reusing of the nipple lid. Especially when the parent has to remember to take it with them and the hygiene of it whislt in travel. Maybe the lid would be incorporated in the bottle design.

  2. Excellent low tech solution to a pressing issue, the first 2 boards of your presentation are very strong, conveying a lot of information about your product. A very economic use of presentation space.

However the third and forth boards are fairly sparse, and do not convey the same amount of information. I think that you could have spaced out the information more evenly across your boards.

  3. I think your choice of designing a baby product was unique and interesting. Your presentation skills are very good and it explains clearly how the product is to be used. It would have been more interesting if there was a focus point to your poster such as using standing out colours at certain headings, or using the different size for the instructions to make it stand out.

  4. I like this concept, this would be useful for those busy mothers on the go. its good that youve changed the product from glass to plastic, much more cheaper and less heavy. the re seal part is very smart. However I'm stil not sure this will convince mothers to buy the products because it may be a little complicated with the sticker and recycling methods, if there was an even more easier way to recycle, it may appeal to mothers.

  5. This concept is interesting in the sense that it has both a reusable and recyclable part and it also designed to be 'on-the-go'. I think it would create far greater convenience for mothers who will need to feed their child whilst they are out. It still retains an appropriate product language and shows exactly what it is even before reading the description. Good work!

  6. Interesting design! It is beyond what I have expected from a milk product, you really think outside the square for this one.

However, from looking at the posters, it is abit hard to find a focus point, as there are too much information on one poster.

  7. This concept is really interesting, its not just useful, but it will be more safety and convenient as well. becareful with the lid, you might need to have another cover for it. posters are very well informative as well.
